An editorial update to you from Empire Report founder, Jake Bayless. The following message was sent out on September 24th to the Empire Report Editorial Board (5 members: Jake, BC, Matthew, Michael and LaRae) as well as to the Empire Report Group (which we encourage YOU to sign up for - below!).

A Founders Update And Invitation To Participate With The Evolving Digital Community Newsroom

Jake Bayless, Empire Report Founder and Editorial Board Member

Editor's note: this report has been modified slightly from its original context as an email for a broader audeince.

Hi all-
I wanted to take a quick moment to remind you all that something exciting for community journalism is about to happen... some of you have been watching as carefully as I how Google Wave will inevitably become a new & amazing tool in the online newsroom toolshed arsenal.

While the last few months have been busy & overwhelming 'round these parts, and also quiet in so many ways, that doesn't take away from the fact that Empire Report will be on the leading edge of what is available with all promising emergent technologies that we can wrap our heads around and our hands upon.

Google Wave is no exception.

It has been announced that on September 30th the Wave team will begin opening up another 100,000 beta testers.
I would really like for all of you to be on that list when it happens so that we, as an emergent & grassroots organization can begin testing Wave in the context of the "new digital newsroom"... and so many other possibilities.

So, to ensure this happens, if you haven't yet (or even if you have), please sign up:
(I suggest you agree to help them out by reporting bugs, etc... also make sure you put in the note that you intend to test Wave in the context of a new community journalism organization, EmpireReport.org )

Also, this article might be worth a read:

...and just because my head is still spinning from this (semi-unrelated) interview/discussion with Clay Shirky, go ahead and give it a listen too... you won't be disappointed:

Any questions?  :-)
